HERE IS a well deserved honor from Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation. “The WACF Education Committee is proud to announce that Nancy Nelson has been selected as our May Volunteer of the Month. Even more special, Nancy is the first volunteer to be honored in this newly initiated program.

“The time and talent that has been given to our organization is the criteria for choosing honorees. We are so fortunate to have a selfless volunteer like Nancy on our team. She is a member of the WACF Education Committee, faithfully attending most monthly meetings.

“Not only has she been available for many of our events and activities during the years, she has a sense of knowing what needs to be done without direction. You will often find Nancy driving the WACF golf cart to load and unload materials, bring water and food to vendors and volunteers and assist people just needing a ride.

“She exhibits a ‘servant’s heart’ by leading groups in educational activities, acting as a welcoming greeter for guests when registering for an event, always with a smile on her face and a positive attitude.

“For some people, volunteering is about giving, but for Nancy it is a way of living. The education committee is grateful for all our volunteers.” From the left are Linda Earnest, WACF board member and education chairman, Nancy Nelson and Pam Schumm, WACF education officer.

SYRACUSE CEMETERY Association is looking for volunteers to serve on a committee to raise funds to do restoration work on graves and grave sites. Contact SCA President Matt Kissane, (574) 325-0106. That is a shot of some damage that was taken by Garry Ringler.

Monetary donations will also be helpful to get the restoration off the ground and apply for grants. Send checks to the SCA, P.O. Box 175, Syracuse, IN 46567. Put improvements in memo line. No tax dollars are used for the cemetery.
