Wawasee Property Owners Association put out a challenge several months ago that it would match donations up to $10,000. That goal was met and a check was presented to the Syracuse-Wawasee Trail Committee Saturday, June 12.

This donation helped the trails committee to move closer to its $100,000 goal for a feasibility study for future trails in the Syracuse-Wawasee area.

The feasibility study is needed to help the trails committee develop a strategic plan to expand the trails to provide safe and attractive non-motorized transportation routes to parks, lakes, schools, neighborhoods and businesses. The three trail sections being studied: Section one — Kern Road, 1200N, Syracuse-Webster Road and Chicago Street; section two — Waco Drive, Vawter Park Road, 800E and Hatchery Road; and section three — Hatchery Road, Turkey Creek Road and Bishop Road.

To learn more about where the trails could go next and to help reach the goal to fund the study, visit the Syracuse-Wawasee Trails website at www.syracusewawaseetrails.com. To make a donation, click on the green Donate Today button in the upper right of the home page.
