Updated closings and cancellations

Here are updated local closings, cancellations and postponements of events and meetings due to the novel coronavirus COVID-19. These are the ones The Mail-Journal has been notified about. Send information about others or when events are rescheduled to mstoelting@the-papers.com or call (574) 658-4111, ext. 2368 and leave a message.

Stay-at-home order by Gov. Eric Holcomb has been extended through Friday, May 1. Only essential travel for work, and to grocery and drug store. No travel, no visiting friends and family who do not live with you. Outdoor exercise permitted maintaining 6 foot distance so no contact sports.

Northern Indiana Lakes Festival, scheduled for May 22-23, Warsaw, has been cancelled. Several of the components are being changed to stand-alone events later.

All Wawasee Community Schools are closed until school resumes in August.

Milford

Milford Public Library is closed. Evergreen has extended all due dates until July 1. The library’s digital collection is still available.

Milford High School Alumni Banquet scheduled for June 13 has been cancelled for 2020.

North Webster

Town of North Webster buildings are closed to the public until further notice. Sewage payments can be made via the drop box or by mail. 

North Webster Senior Prime Life Enrichment Center aka the senior center is closed until further notice. 

North Webster Legion Post 253 is closed until further notice. Check with the Legion’s Facebook page regarding carry-out service.

North Webster Community Center closed until further notice.

North Webster Community Public Library is closed until further notice. Evergreen has extended all due dates until July 1. The library’s digital collection is still available.

Barbee Hotel is closed until further notice.

Tippecanoe Lake Cottage Tour scheduled for June has been postponed. The Watershed Foundation will release a new date later.

North Webster High School Alumni Association Banquet has been cancelled for 2020. It was to be held Saturday, July 11. The 2021 event will be the second Saturday in July.

Dixie Day Festival scheduled for July 25 has been cancelled. The next festival will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021. It is sponsored by the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce.

Syracuse

Tour Des Lakes has been postoned to 2021

Town of Syracuse buildings are closed to the public until further notice. This includes town hall, police station, community center and waste treatment plant. Sewage and water payments can be made via mail, drop box on west side of town hall and on line.

Syracuse Alumni Association banquet has been cancelled for 2020.

Syracuse-Wawasee Rotary has suspended noon Tuesday meetings at The Sleepy Owl until further notice.

Chautauqua-Wawasee Purdue Varsity Glee Club performance originally scheduled for Friday, April 24, has been rescheduled for Friday, Oct. 23.

Syracuse Public Library is closed until further notice. Evergreen has extended all due dates until July 1. The library’s digital collection is available.

Syracuse REAL Services and the Syracuse Senior Center at the Syracuse Community Center are closed. Carry-out meals are available weekdays. For more information contact Carolyn Hapner, (574) 457-2631.

Syracuse American Legion Post 223 is closed until further notice. There will be a drive through Nelson’s barbecue chicken sale 10 a.m. until sold out, Saturday, May 2, at the Legion, 1008 S. Huntington St.

Syracuse-Wawasee Historical Museum is closed until further notice. IU Bicentennial Exhibit has been postponed. A new date will be announced later.

Elsa’s and Anna’s Winter Adventure has been rescheduled at the Syracuse Community Center to Saturday, Sept. 19. Times are 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. It is sponsored by the Syracuse Parks Department.

Friends of the Syracuse Library salad luncheon will be rescheduled. Information will be forthcoming. Tickets already purchased will be honored.
