PRESERVING HALF A CENTURY OF MEMORIES

Harlan Steffen, one of the founders of the Lake Wawasee boat-in, which recently ended its 50th year, reviews a bulletin in the boat-in museum located in his corner office at Steffen Realty, 1416 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. The museum contains every yearly bulletin from 1981 to present; newspaper and magazine clippings from the New York Times, The Mail-Journal, Goshen News and South Bend Tribune; and hundreds of photos capturing memories through the decades. The museum is open during the business’s hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The 2019 boat-in season was “just so wonderful,” said Steffen. “We had such a good response from the community. I am already working on next year.” For more information, call (574) 457-4446. (Photo by Ray Balogh)
