More from the Iceboat Championship

Iceboat Race Championship WawaseeCRUZIN’ GOT the scoop straight from Rick Lemberg about the ice sailing races last week. He shared, “Lake Wawasee was the host lake for the DN class Iceboat North American championship. Wawasee was the backup location for not only the North Americans but also the World Cup championship.“The regatta started at Indian Lake, Ohio, but due to deteriorating ice conditions was moved to Lake Wawasee. Andy Allen and I, both internationally ranked DN sailors from Wawasee, were able to bring the regatta here.”Rick files for permits every year in hopes of the regatta to be on home ice, this year it worked. The Wawasee-Syracuse area came together to help lodge more than 100 sailors from eight countries. Thanks again to Oakwood Resort, WACF, Wawasee Yacht Club, Brook Pointe and all the great hospitality from our community. Also a big thanks to the Wawasee Iceboat Squadron for helping with the planning and logistics of getting all the sailors on the ice. It was epic. That is Rick and Andy talking about race strategies in the photo.
