Wetland Adventure

The WACF Education Team offers Wetland Adventures FREE to elementary age children and a parent on Wednesdays during July.  These activities take place at the WACF Education Center on SR 13 from 9AM – 11AM.  Each week there are different activities.  This week we learned about stream life and water flow.  We also made a take home miniature wetland, a frog craft and an experiment to watch seeds germinate PLUS the ever popular canoe scavenger hunt along our lakefront shoreline.  The first adventure we learned about a food web then looked at plants and invertebrates that live in the water and we made a rainbow fish.  Next week is SAFETY DAY!  Representatives from the Red Cross will be on site to fit life jackets properly. And we will learn how to throw a life line, how to stay safe in a storm, a fire and other catastrophes. We will also decorate an emergency pillowcase – each child will receive one which will be filled (at home) with their favorite toy, stuffed animal, change of clothes, food (snacks) water,  flashlight and other necessities that might be needed in case of an emergency.  We will also do a craft and take a canoe scavenger hunt!  It’s a jam packed adventure just waiting for you to join us!  Can’t wait to see you Wednesday, July 25 at 9AM at Ruddell Pavilion at the Education Center on SR 13.
