Winter Carnival snowmobile races canceled

By Elisa WalkerStaff WriterSyracuse Winter Carnival snowmobile races that had been scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 10, were canceled Tuesday evening and will not be rescheduled. Wawasee Kiwanis had been monitoring ice conditions on Syracuse Lake and did not see the growth of ice thickness hoped for in order to safely hold the races.Main Street, though, will still host ice carving demonstrations at noon and dog sled demonstrations at 2 p.m. Available at Wawasee Plaza from noon to 3 p.m. are face painting, a hot cocoa bar, a Girl Scout cookie sale and a Boy Scouts chili sale.GIVING BACK — Shown are dogs from the dog sled demonstrations at last year’s event.
