Smith-Walbridge Camp in 1960

BECKY FOX brought in a great photo from Smith-Walbridge Camp in 1960. It is of members of the baton and flag corps of Anderson High School, who were training for the Indiana State Fair Band Contest. Of course, the camp is now The Lodge, owned by Grace Community Church, Goshen. Anderson got second place that year, which Cruzin’ remembers as the end all-be all of marching band back in the day. All three Anderson high schools were very competitive.Several area residents are in the photo. In the left row, second in line is Bobbette Snyder of Lake Tippecanoe and Butch Hartaker is at the top of that row. He lives on Hatchery Road. Betsy Robie is the first person in the right row and Becky is the ninth person up. Behind her is Cheryl Baker now of Tippy, and behind her is Diana Grant, Buttermilk Road, Lake Wawasee. Perc Bartlett, Syracuse, was the photographer.
