Annual family breakfast held at Oakwood Resort

Residents of Wawasee and Syracuse lakes gathered Saturday morning for a pancake and sausage breakfast at Oakwood Retreat, Syracuse, for the annual Wawasee Property Owners Association and Syracuse Lake Association family breakfast. The final tally shows 245 lake residents from both lakes and their families attended. Not only did attendees receive a breakfast of pancakes, sausage, cantaloupe and watermelon, but many area organizations were present to answer questions, tell of their projects, and provide information. Such organizations as the Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation, Kosciusko County Community Foundation, Wawasee Flotilla, Syracuse-Wawasee Historical Museum, Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce and Chautauqua-Wawasee were on hand. Most, if not all of the trucks with Turkey Creek Fire Territory were displayed, allowing guests to see what equipment is available and how the equipment operates. Perhaps the highlight was the opportunity to get an aerial view of the area with the fire department’s ladder truck. Riders were taken up approximately 70 feet.Guests were also able to purchase the new Wawasee Memories 2013, interviews and scenery from around Lake Wawasee, a project of WPOA.Numerous comments were heard from those attending regarding how nice it was returning to Oakwood for the annual event.
