Regatta produces local winners

The members of Wawasee Yacht Club won the E-Scow Regatta Open sailboat race on home territory during the June 13 weekend.Low winds for Saturday delayed the races, but it didn't stop them all together.Twenty-nine clubs were present at the event and awards were provided for the top five winners who sailed in the gold fleet. Winners included Dick Tillman's team of the Wawasee Yacht Club, Brett Hatton's team of Spring Lake Yacht Club, Pete Price's team of Crystal Lake Yacht Club, Steve Torch's team of Torch Lake Yacht Club and Lon Schoor's team of Mendota Yacht Club.Mike Rian and his crew from the Wawasee Yacht Club also ranked highest in the silver fleet category and 15th overall.Other race leaders from the Wawasee Yacht Club included Dave Irmscher, whose team placed eighth in the gold fleet category; Bob Herdrich, whose team placed ninth; and Casey Call, whose team placed 11th.Wawasee Yacht Club is a dedicated sailing and social club located on Lake Wawasee.
