Oakwood property owners to vote on proposals Saturday

Members of the Oakwood Property Owners Association will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Syracuse, to vote on adopting a new covenant.Ian Rolland, receiver for Oakwood, reported the Oakwood Property Owners Association Board is doing a terrific job in getting members to submit their votes. "Larry Lane (board president) and the new board has done an outstanding job of getting the word out and collecting votes," Rolland said.He went on to say he believed this would establish good cooperation between the Parents, who are in the process of purchasing the property, and the OPOA.The property owners have the option to vote for the global proposal, which allows them to keep some of the provisions they've had in the past, such as access to the beach, chapel and common areas around the Oakwood Inn. The property owners will also have an opportunity to purchase the channel piers and operate its own pier rental program. The other proposal, dubbed the Rolland proposal, strips the property owners of all their rights to use the chapel, beach, playground and other areas. At press time Rolland said he thought only two proxy votes had been turned in voting against the global proposal. Most property owners are voting by proxy."It's just been terrific," Rolland said of the process. "The new attitude that exists between the Parents and the property owners is very gratifying and bodes well for the future."
