Demolition begins

demolition beginsDemolition on the CSX railroad depot began this morning (Wednesday) in Syracuse. Contractors hired by CSX for the work were on scene and starting the demolition with the roof, separating the aluminum and other recyclable material as the work progressed. No official from CSX or the construction company was available for more information.The depot was built in 1916 and remodeled in 1960. The brick structure is 576 square-feet and had been the target of preservation attempts by the Save The Depot Committee, which gave up its efforts in August 2011. The facility had not been used except for storage.
