By Deb Patterson Staff WriterBessie Grimes initially thought a limb fell on her roof Sunday afternoon, Feb. 24. However, it was more than a limb. An entire tree fell onto her home on East Searfoss Drive, Syracuse, going through the roof. Fortunately Grimes was not injured.According to Grimes’ grandson, Ben Plikerd, the damage was caused between 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The tree went through the roof and into the kitchen, living room and two bedrooms. It also damaged a corner of the neighbor’s home.Exact damage estimates are not known at this time.There were numerous trees and tree limbs downed causing road hazards as a result of the high winds Sunday. A car port at a South Huntington Street, Syracuse, location reportedly was picked up and tossed into a fence. Power outages were also reported in the area.According to records at the National Weather Service of Northern Indiana, winds were recorded between 49 miles per hour at James Lake up to 51 miles per hour at Warsaw Airport. One report near Tippecanoe Lake, recorded winds up to 60 miles per hour.
