Let's go for a Walk!

Spring Interpretive HikeThe WACF is joining the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams to host a spring interpretive hike on Saturday, March 2, 10-11 a.m. This free, family-friendly event will take place on the beautiful trails at the WACF Education Center, one mile south of Syracuse on SR 13.The hike will be led by Heather Harwood, executive director of WACF and Dr. Nate Bosch, director of the Lilly Center. Heather will share the history of WACF's property and the many improvements, and Nate will delve into the scientific and ecological elements along the WACF’s trails.“We'll see things along the way that we can discuss,” said Heather, “Like wetlands, wildlife footprints and different kinds of trees.  We’ll also talk about development efforts and restoration projects that led to the look of WACF’s site.”“This early spring hike is an opportunity for community members to learn how to protect our county’s lakes and streams,” adds Nate. “We’re especially excited to join Heather for a spring hike at WACF and enjoy all the natural beauty their property offers”.The hike is open to individuals of all ages and fitness levels. Hikers are encouraged to dress according to weather and trail conditions. Jackets and walking shoes are recommended. In the case of inclement weather, cancellation will be announced on both the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams and Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation Facebook pages.
