Start planning now for the 56th Wawasee Flotilla at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, July 2. This year’s theme is “Disney on Wawasee.”What are your favorite Disney movies? “Toy Story,” “Snow White,” “The Incredibles,” “Pirates of the Caribbean?” Entrants are invited to decorate their floats, piers and cottages to show their Disney spirit.Participants need to register in order to be eligible to win an award. Participants may also register the day of the Flotilla at the judge’s boat.This year’s awards will be the coveted Commodore Cup, DNR, Wawasee Property Owners Association, neighborhood, youth, Wawasee history, most patriotic, commercial/business, non-profit, best wooden and antique boats, and most original. Awards will also be given for the best on-shore displays and there will be a people’s choice award determined by Facebook voters.The parade will gather in front of the Wawasee Spink at noon that day with the Flotilla beginning at 12:30 p.m. and moving counter clockwise around the lake.Other events on the schedule related to the Wawasee Flotilla are:Flotilla Road Race Tuesday, July 4, at Lakeside Park, Syracuse. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the race starts at 8 a.m.The Flotilla fundraiser cruise will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, aboard the S.S.
