Chautauqua-Wawasee offers diverse programming
With the celebration of Memorial Day May 30, it was the unofficial start of summer in the lakes area. And Chautauqua-Wawasee has an entire season of programming planned for adults and kids.Be sure to make reservations for the Lake Wawasee Adventure Aboard the SS Lilly Pad, June 26. Chautauqua-Wawasee is partnering with Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation and the Syracuse-Wawasee Historical Museum in offering this exciting learning adventure and brunch on Lake Wawasee.The two-hour cruise will begin at 11:30 a.m. Reservations may be made through the WACF or the Syracuse-Wawasee Historical Museum, (574) 457-3599.Fort Wayne Philharmonic will hold a concert at 7:30 p.m. June 28 at the Oakwood Resort. Come by boat or bring a lawn chair or blanket to set up on the beach and join family and friends in the fun. This concert is sponsored by Steel Dynamics and the community. Food and beverages will be available for purchase or bring your own picnic fare. Rain location will be Wawasee High School.Chautauqua Wawasee is partnering with the Flotilla Road Race, set for July 4. The 39th running of this race starts at the Syracuse Community Center with the 8-mile race going through Oakwood Park.Oakwood Fine Arts Festival will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 27 featuring premier fine arts and crafts. Free admission. The event includes local entertainment, food and a children’s art experience.This summer Chautauqua Wawasee is introducing a summer program from June 7 through July 26 for children ages 3-7. Sessions will be held in the Oakwood Resort Events Center and children must be accompanied by an adult.
