DONATION TOWARD RESEARCH — Wawasee Property Owners Association recently donated $6,000 to the Center for Lakes and Streams at Grace College to further its algae research. The funds, according to Dr. Nate Bosch, director, will go toward research equipment allowing implementation of a screening method to provide rapid results of dangerous algae toxins in the lakes. The center is expected to be able to begin local testing next spring. Currently there is a several-week turnaround to detect dangerous levels of algae toxins in area lakes, with results being determined after the health threat has passed.
